My Daughter’s Battle with Baby Eczema – A Journey of Hope and Healing

My Daughter’s Battle with Baby Eczema – A Journey of Hope and Healing

Hello lovely parents,

I’m Roli, the co-founder of MaJolie Toys—and above all, I’m a mom to a vibrant, chirpy girl who’s about to turn 11! (Big milestone, right? 🥹)

But her early years weren’t as joyful as I had imagined. In fact, they were some of the toughest moments of my life.

Let me share a very personal journey with you—because if even one parent feels less alone after reading this, it’s worth it.

🌼 The First Signs

She was born in London, and just two months in, I noticed strange, water-filled rashes on her cheeks. My heart sank. The doctor confirmed my fear—it was baby eczema.

Within three months, the rashes spread across her entire body. I felt helpless.

😔 A Roller Coaster Few Talk About

Those two years? They were exhausting. Sleepless nights. Nonstop itching. Constantly stopping her from scratching. Emotionally draining is an understatement.

When she was 5 months old, I flew to Hyderabad, hoping a warmer climate would help. But the dry weather made it worse. I was moisturizing her eight times a day, and still, no relief.

🌈 The Turning Point

After frantic research, we finally found a pediatric dermatologist—Dr. Deepak Parikh in Mumbai—who gave us a practical routine that actually worked.

Here’s What He Recommended:

  1. 10-minute bath in lukewarm water

  2. Gently pat dry with a soft muslin towel (no rubbing!)

  3. Apply mild steroid cream as per prescription

  4. Moisturize thoroughly with Cetaphil

  5. Use full-sleeve, breathable clothes to prevent scratching

  6. Most importantly—keep her happy and occupied

Within one week, I saw the difference. Her skin was calmer. She slept. And so did I.

By age 2.5, she had completely outgrown the eczema.

💡 My Tips for Parents Managing Baby Eczema

If you’re dealing with baby eczema, here’s my advice—not as a founder, but as a mom who’s been through it:

✔️ Do’s:

  • Moisturize after every bath

  • Do not use soap for bathing

  • Keep the room cool and well-ventilated

  • Dress your child in soft, breathable muslin

  • Engage them with toys and books—distraction helps!

  • Hang in there—most kids grow out of it

❌ Don’ts:

  • Don’t overheat the room

  • Don’t rub dry—dab gently instead

  • Don’t try random home remedies without consulting a doctor

❤️ You’re Not Alone

Whether you’re a first-time mom or not, baby eczema can shake you up. But trust me—you will get through this. Stay strong, stay consistent, and keep showing up for your little one.

And if you're looking for gentle, engaging toys to help distract and soothe your child during tricky times, you know where to find us 💛

With love,
Roli
